We are pleased to announce that the legendary Fred Eaglesmith will be performing on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Boyce Theatre on Stampede Park.

A Canadian icon, Fred Eaglesmith is North America’s premier songwriter, having released his 20th album, Tambourine, in December 2013. Fred's songs have been recorded by the likes of Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, Toby Keith, Kelly Willis and The Cowboy Junkies.

In addition to The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, the Calgary Stampede produces and hosts a variety of events and shows offering unique and varied experiences to engage Calgarians throughout the year.

After completing a very successful pilot project, the Calgary Stampede is continuing to turn kitchen waste into garden food. Stampede chefs prepare approximately 175,000 meals throughout the year, meaning the green impact the Stampede can have on the environment is huge. The Stampede composts material that include vegetable peelings, coffee grounds, fruit, cooked meat and bones, vegetables. Many other packaging materials such as plastics and cardboard are recycled.

On July 6, 2014, Suncor Energy served up its annual pancake breakfast down at Stampede Park where 20,000 pancakes were flipped and tossed. With the help of Suncor Energy, we composted as much waste as possible. In fact, at last year’s breakfast, composting efforts diverted 641 kg of organics and 250 kg of plastics and cardboard from our local landfills.
